MIRROR — Terms of Service

Effective date: October 19, 2026 Provider: John Greg (sole trader), 14610 Bull Run Road, Miami Lakes, FL 33014, USA, contact contact@mirrorspeak.app.

1. The service

MIRROR ("we", "us") is a language-learning service. You listen to a short original scene, record yourself performing the line, and receive an automated score comparing the words you said to the words in the line, along with vocabulary and practice features.

Scores are generated automatically by speech-recognition software. They are an approximation for practice purposes. They are not an assessment of language ability, they are not a qualification, and we do not claim they predict any result in a test, interview, or examination.

We may change, add, or remove features, scenes, and levels. We do not promise that any particular scene will remain available.

2. Accounts

You need an account to record and score takes. You must give a valid email address, keep your password confidential, and be old enough to agree to these terms in your country. MIRROR is not directed to children under 13.

You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us at contact@mirrorspeak.app if you think someone else is using it.

You can delete your account at any time from your profile. Deleting it erases your recordings-derived data as described in the Privacy Policy, and cancels any active subscription.

3. What is free, and what is paid

Creating an account is free, and so are the Daily Take and any challenge link another user shares with you. Those do not require a purchase and are not limited by one. There is no free tier of scenes beyond them.

Paid access comes in two forms:

What it is Term
Mirror Pro A subscription giving access to all scenes and Pro features Recurring, monthly or yearly
Starter Pack A one-time purchase giving permanent access to the five starter scenes One-time, no expiry

Reaching a level also requires meeting its practice score threshold. A purchase gives you access to the scenes it covers; it does not skip the score needed to reach a level. (Level 1 has no threshold, so the Starter Pack is usable immediately.)

Current prices are shown on the pricing section of our site and at checkout. The price shown at checkout is the price you pay.

4. Payments, and who you are buying from

Payments are processed by Polar, which acts as merchant of record. That means your contract of sale — and the receipt, the tax handling, and the payment relationship — is with Polar, not with us. Your use of the MIRROR service is governed by these terms.

Polar's own terms and privacy policy apply to the payment. We never receive or store your card details.

Sales tax or VAT is handled by Polar and may be added at checkout depending on where you are.

5. Subscriptions, auto-renewal and cancellation

Mirror Pro renews automatically. Unless you cancel, your subscription renews at the end of each billing period — monthly or yearly, whichever you chose — and the payment method you used is charged again at the then-current price for that plan. You are agreeing to this recurring charge when you subscribe.

You can cancel at any time, through the Polar customer portal — linked from your receipt, and reachable by entering your purchase email — or by emailing contact@mirrorspeak.app.

Cancelling stops future charges. It does not end your current period. You keep Pro access until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then keep only what you bought outright. Cancelling is not the same as requesting a refund — see the Refund Policy.

If a renewal payment fails, Polar may retry it. If it ultimately fails, your Pro access ends and you keep only what you bought outright.

The Starter Pack does not renew and cannot be cancelled, because there is no recurring charge. The access it grants does not expire.

If we raise the price of a plan you are subscribed to, we will tell you before it applies to you, and you will have the chance to cancel first.

6. Refunds

The Refund Policy forms part of these terms. In summary: all sales are final — neither a Mirror Pro charge nor the one-time purchase is refundable as a matter of course. The exception is technical failure: if what you paid for does not work, we will fix it or refund it.

Cancelling a subscription before its renewal date always prevents that charge, and you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.

As merchant of record, Polar has final discretion over any refund, and nothing here reduces a statutory right of withdrawal you may have as a consumer.

7. Acceptable use

Don't:

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches this section. Where the breach is not serious and can be fixed, we will normally warn you first.

8. Your recordings and your content

You own your recordings. Recording a take does not transfer ownership to us.

You grant us a limited licence to process your recording in order to provide the service: to transcribe it, score it, store the score, and show it back to you. That licence exists only so the product can work. We do not use your recordings to train speech or language models, we do not publish them, and we do not sell them.

Your username and scores may appear on leaderboards and in challenges you create, because that is the point of those features.

Full detail on how audio is handled, how long it is kept, and who processes it is in the Privacy Policy.

9. Scene content

Every scene in MIRROR is original. The lines, the scene titles, the audio performances and the artwork were written, generated and produced for MIRROR. No film, television programme, actor or existing work is reproduced, quoted or depicted, and nothing is embedded from a third-party video service.

That material is ours. These terms give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use it inside MIRROR for your own language practice, and nothing more. You may not extract, scrape, bulk-download, republish or redistribute the scene text, the audio or the artwork, or use any of it to train a model.

Earlier versions of MIRROR taught using clips, posters and dialogue from existing films. That material has been removed and replaced in full.

10. Availability

We aim to keep MIRROR available but do not guarantee it. It may be unavailable for maintenance, or because of a failure at a provider we depend on — hosting, speech processing, or payments. We do not promise any uptime level, and interruption is not by itself grounds for a refund outside the Refund Policy.

11. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows:

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. This includes liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, and any statutory rights you have as a consumer. If you are a consumer in the UK, EU, or another jurisdiction with mandatory consumer protection law, you keep those rights in full and this section applies only so far as that law permits.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, and the courts of Florida will have jurisdiction, except where the mandatory law of your country of residence gives you the right to bring proceedings locally or to rely on your local consumer law. Where it does, that right is unaffected.

13. Changes to these terms

We will post changes here and update the effective date above. If a change materially reduces what you get or increases what you pay, we will notify you in-app or by email before it applies to you. Continuing to use MIRROR after a change takes effect means you accept the revised terms.
